For a change I enjoyed a nice tourist Saturday in the London centre. Two places to see and some walking on overcrowded Regent Street (a mistake, I don't recommend). For a gourmand the place to visit in London is Borough Market right next to London Bridge underground station. Early birds get here at 8 am on Saturday morning or 10 am on weekdays, Sundays the market is closed (except during Christmas season).
Kyseessä ei siis ole mikä tahansa ruokatori, vaan oikea herkkutori. Täältä saa paitsi upeita englantilaisia niin myös keskieurooppalaisiakin tuotteita. Juustoja, lihaa, makkaroita, kasviksia, leipomotuotteita, hilloja, chutneyta jne.
So this is a food market but not just that, this is really the place to find all treats and specialties, not just from the UK but also from Central Europe. Cheese, meat, salamis, vegetables, bakery products, marmalades, chutneys etc.
Because of the Christmas season I was particularly interested in the mustard selection. What do you think of this? Including, for example, fig and wasabi flavoured mustards.
After delicious visit to the market I found my way to Knightsbridge, where else than Harrods. To me this mecca of luxury items is - at least for now - one of those "nice to look" places as prices can be astronomical. However, it is worth checking the Harrods product range, found something from there for Christmas. Not these, tough...
Harrod's loyalty card owners got 10% discount on everything this weekend. Don't have a card? Nothing to worry about, the nice young girl at the till gave me one even without asking if I wanted it and also gave me the discount as well. Nice!
Right next to the Harrods range there is a Cath Kidston shop in shop. The brand is really popular here and you can see these floral pattern or polka dot handbags quite often. Carried by ladies of all ages.
After walking all day went home with my take away sushi. Prawns and veggies this time.
My dessert in the lower picture is a Swiss fruit bread I bought this morning from the market. After spending all day in my bag underneath everything else it looked like this, not suffered too bad. Now I'm going to relax and watch tv for a while, maybe I can fit some stroking (cats) in my evening program as well. How about you, how was your day?
